Temvert Empowerment Foundation has received official approval from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs to host a Side Event at the 2026 ECOSOC Youth Forum, scheduled to hold from 14 to 16 April 2026.
The approval marks a significant milestone for the organisation as it continues to expand its presence in global policy conversations focused on sustainable development, youth participation, and inclusive solutions for children and young people.
The approved side event, titled Powering Education Equally: Energy Solutions for Girls and Boys, will be held virtually on 14 April 2026 and is being organised in partnership with the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth, with Children and Youth International serving as co sponsor.
The 2026 ECOSOC Youth Forum will focus on advancing key Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 7 on Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals.
Temvert Empowerment Foundation’s approved side event aligns closely with these themes by drawing attention to the connection between energy access and education outcomes.
The event will examine how limited or unreliable electricity continues to affect learning environments in many communities, especially in schools where poor energy access can limit teaching, digital learning, innovation, safety, and the overall quality of education available to girls and boys.
By focusing on practical and inclusive energy solutions, the event aims to contribute to broader discussions on how energy can serve as an enabler of better education outcomes and more equitable opportunities for girls and boys.
The virtual discussion is expected to bring together voices from the education, energy, and development sectors to explore innovative and partnership driven approaches to addressing challenges at the intersection of energy and learning.
The approval further reinforces Temvert Empowerment Foundation’s growing commitment to contributing to international policy and development spaces through issue based advocacy and solution oriented engagement.
More details regarding speakers and participation are expected to be announced in the coming days.
