The Board of Temvert Empowerment Foundation has constituted a 17 member strategic committee for its Campaign Against Menstrual Poverty among Schoolgirls.
The committee was constituted to plan the launching of the 10,000 sanitary pads distribution and influence the Osun State Government to create a free sanitary pad scheme for Osun girls.
Chaired by Honourable Maruf Taiwo Hassan (SA to Osun State Governor on Public Health), their first meeting was held on 21st August, 2025, where the committee drew plans to ensure that Osun State adopt the NGO intitative as a state project.
In a statement released by the organisation, the Founder and Executive Director of the NGO, Temitayo Olatunde, disclosed that the organisation has been relentlessly urging the government to create a free pad scheme.
The statement reads in part:
“In our relentless efforts to tackle menstrual poverty, we are not limiting ourselves to only distributing sanitary pads, we have designed a sustainable strategy which is influencing and lobbying the government to create a free pad scheme for school girls. That means, when our 10,000 pads finish, the schoolgirls can still access more from the government.
We have made reasonable progress as we now have on board in this project, some members of Osun State Government namely; Honourable Maruf Taiwo Hassan (SA to Osun State Governor on Public Health) and Honourable Oluwapelumi Ojo (SA to Osun State Governor on Sanitation).
To ensure a successful launching of our 10,000 pads and proposed state adoption of free pad scheme, our organisation has constituted a high level strategic committee for the campaign in Osun State, which will be chaired by Hon. Taiwo.
As the convener of this campaign, I am excited to announce the names of the members of the strategic committee:
