The United Nations Association (UNA) Greater Lincolnshire, United Kingdom has made social impact advocate, Temitayo Olatunde as one of its new Ambassadors, in recognition of his work in education, equality and civic participation.

Temitayo is the executive director and founder of Temvert Empowerment Foundation, which supports access to education and menstrual health for girls in underserved communities. He is also active in wider policy and advocacy work linked to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Speaking about his appointment, Temitayo said:

“Being invited to serve as an Ambassador for UNA Greater Lincolnshire is both an honour and a responsibility. For me, this is not just a title, It is a chance to connect local communities to global conversations and show that the Sustainable Development Goals are not abstract ideas. They are about real people, real choices and real change.”

In his new role, Temitayo will support UNA Greater Lincolnshire in three main ways which are raising awareness of the United Nations and the Sustainable Development Goals within local communities, engaging young people, community groups and universities in practical dialogue and action, building links between work happening in the United Kingdom and projects in countries such as Nigeria.

His new role reflects a track record of using limited resources to deliver real impact. Through his foundation, he has helped provide school materials to children from low income backgrounds, supported girls facing menstrual poverty and contributed to discussions on education policy and inclusive growth.

Temitayo has also been involved in local, global and multilateral spaces, including UN, World Bank, ECOSOC youth forum, WTO among others. These shape his view and approach to this ambassador role. He sees the Ambassador position as a way to translate high level conversations into local action that people can see and feel.

“I want people in Greater Lincolnshire, especially young people, to see that global issues like climate change, education, health or gender equality are closely connected to their own lives,” he explained. “Whether you are in Lincoln, Lagos or a rural village, questions of fairness, dignity and opportunity are similar. My goal is to help create spaces where people can be heard and can help design solutions.”

As an Ambassador, Temitayo plans to work with the UNA Greater Lincolnshire team, local councils, universities, schools and community organisations to develop events, dialogues and collaborative projects that bring the Sustainable Development Goals to life. This will include themes such as civic engagement, education, digital skills and inclusive economic participation.

He added:

“This appointment is also a reminder that young people with lived experience of inequality have a place at the table. I hope my journey encourages others from similar backgrounds to step forward, speak up and see themselves as part of the global community. I appreciate Clive Wilson, the Chair of UNA-GL for this kind opportunity”.
